When I listen to a singer sing opera, it is very important that the singeris sincere in his/her singing and shows directness of feeling. I don't like mannerisms in singing. I also don't like singers using dramatictricks that get in the way of expression. If the singer sings sincerelyand with directness of feeling, then that singer automatically gets my admiration.
