How should we judge professional singers?

If memory serves me right, there are time honoured principles of judging professional singers' performance.

Stage Presence
Vocal Colour
Vocal Technique - Flexibility, Vocal Colour, Tessitura, What the Voice does well/What the Voice does poorly, Volume - pp > ff, the messa da voce
Knowledge of the Language
Knowledge of the Scena
These principles must be in place to have successful singing. The question is whether the singer of this generation has the education and training to accomplish these techniques. Are we judging singing strictly by colour?
