I studied Italian diction with Shirlee at BU. She was full of life and had beautiful sounding students. i never had the opportunity to ask her about things that wrre always debated in the different studios. I am curious about her thoughts about things like lifting the soft palate, keeping the cheekbones 'high', initiating the attack of the vowel...glottal vs 'starting the air' before the tone. I'd love to hear how she taught the tenets of the bel canto school, what she thought of Manuel Garcia or Lamperti. Anything you might want to share would be great!
