In the piano world many of the great pianists of the 20th Century could trace their pedagogical lineage to great pianists or composers of the19th Century. This led to a number of performance schools or styles, one of the best known being the so-called German School (Schnabel, Gieseking, etc.). Do such performance schools exist in the vocal music world of today? If not, why not?
